What you think about................ you get!
"I knew it, I knew it. I told you this would happen." How often have you heard this? I have heard it quite a lot.
Our power of thought is a huge power, which we can use to encourage or to discourage ourselves and others. We often don't realize this. It deserves closer examination.
For instance someone says, "If I eat this dessert, I will gain weight." I'll bet you, this person will gain weight. Because he anticipates gaining weight, he most certainly will, unless he becomes aware of what he is doing and changes his thought pattern. And what about the statement, "It's awful to go to work on Monday." How do you think this person will feel throughout the day? He will probably create events that aren’t nice, grumpy customers, etc. So he can say, "I knew it..."
If we think negative thoughts, we will get them. Before anything happens, we must have have ahd a thought about it consciously or unconsciously. The though precedes the action. So, the more we think of negative things the more they persist in our live. When we describe teenagers as lazy people who use drugs, carry guns and participate in free sex, then naturally we will only meet teenagers who fit that description, because that is what our mind is focused on. Instead we could concentrate on the positive and fun things teenagers can do and pay a lot of attention to those qualities and encourage them. As a result, we will see this kind of teenagers around you.
I don't advocate we should put our head in the sand and ignore negativity and problems. We notice the problem, get full information and then we put our mind on solutions and on improving the situation. Somehow we all seem to like to talk about the things that go wrong. Have we forgotten to concentrate on things that go well? The more we do that, the more we will experience things that go well. What you concentrate on you get, unless your thoughts become divided.
When you get 'garbage' in your life, you had better check your thoughts and ideas. It could be revealing. You are the person who can change things. No one or nothing external to you has that power. God gave you free choice. When your viewpoint changes, your environment will change.
