This is the kind of book you can open at random to any page and it always seems to provide you with exactly what you need to know at the moment. You don't need to spend time reading it from cover to cover, although many people do just that. It is the kind of book you put on your night-stand or coffee table and flip open for inspiration when the mood strikes you.
Sample Chapter:
Sparkle: Illnesses, accidents and mishaps can be caused by forcing yourself to do thing which down deep in your heart you know you don't really want to do. You are acting against your own self-interest. You are going against your own power. You permit your own power to diminish.
Every person should have a sparkle in his eye, when you meet that person. a person who follows what he wants from the bottom of his heart, is excited, is happy and bubbles all over with energy. He 'sparkles'.
When the sparkle is absent, it should be a warning; the light is red! Something is wrong. Don't accept the excuses that person gives you. If he or she has a problem, help him to get it sorted out and go for the sparkle! Once real 'wants' are identified the sparkle will return.
However, occasionally a person may change his viewpoint and way of looking at things. That can release him from a fixation. By completely changing his perspective, that person may find his present activities redefined in terms of real 'wants.' In that case he can often even continue with his present activities, but with a new attitude. Always watch for the sparkle. If the sparkle has returned, it worked.
People sometimes will say to me: "Yes, I know, you say that so nicely, 'find the sparkle...,' but I buried it when I was a child, or when I lost my first husband. Don't tell me I should follow what I want; that is impossible. That is the way life is!"
Find out exactly where and when you lost your sparkle. You can do this. You will find clues and a good understanding about your life. Then you can pick up the sparkle again where you lost it. Another possibility is to decide to start now. From now on, resolve to start going only for things which bring a sparkle to your eyes and which excite you!
I should, if I Could, if I would. Often we don't know what we want, because the knowledge is blocked by all kind of 'shoulds,' 'ought-to's,' 'have to's,' etc. Basically, we know what we want. But then feelings of guilt start to kick in: "I should do this, otherwise....," " I don't want to , but I ought to..."
There are occasions when we don't follow what we want, because we are afraid, and in order to hide that, we come up with beautiful reasons like:
-- I can't do that because my wife wouldn't like this.
-- What will my friends say!
-- I don't have the energy for it.
-- I have to, I should, I ought to (you fill it in....)
-- I don't have the time for it.Now you have created a barrier to what you want, an obstacle to what you basically desire deep in your heart.
We are inclined to deny basic desires. Instead we start to put all our energy in rationalizing.... why we can't. We try to justify ourselves. If we persist in this, we convince ourselves and start to believe what we say, and we begin to think that those reasons make sense.
When you hear a person stating all sorts of reasons why he or she wants or doesn't want to do something and that persons keeps on trying to convince you, you had better realize there is something wrong. Shakespeare at this point would say: "Me thinks thou dost protest too much!"
What that person states isn't true, it is a half truth; underneath lies the real truth.
Trust: Often I hear people say, "but what would I do if....?" How do we know? We haven't taken the first steps yet. How then can we know the second step in all its entirety. It develops by going through the steps. When you need to decide by Wednesday, and it is Sunday night and you don't know the answer yet, don't panic. You still need to experience Monday and Tuesday. Trust that it will all fall into place. Just stay alert. Alertness is very important. When you aren't alert, you can miss certain 'messages.'
If you should still not know the answer by Wednesday, it is probably is meant to be so. Perhaps the man you need to answer by Wednesday calls in sick. You'll see, the worry wasn't needed.
Keep this line in mind: When it is not necessary to make a decision, it is necessary to not make a decision!
